Ms. Valerie Wilson is the Director of the Caribbean Med Labs Foundation (CMLF). She is a trained Immunologist and holds Masters Degrees in Immunology and Business Administration and has had extensive training and experience as a public health professional. Ms. Wilson began her career as one of a group of pioneers in Immunology who established Immunology services at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital in Trinidad and Tobago in 1981. She provided tissue typing support services for the first transplants done in Trinidad and Tobago in the mid-1980s, and established regional services in Transplantation Immunology at the Caribbean Epidemiology Centre in the early 1990s.
The Caribbean Med Labs Foundation, based in Trinidad and Tobago, is a non-governmental organisation established in response to a request from CARICOM Ministers of Health in June 2007. The Ministers had requested continuation of the regional effort aimed at building and sustaining the highest quality medical laboratory services.
