The goal of this component was to foster a climate of evidence-based decision-making through encouraging management trainees to initiate simple research projects and through conducting operational research agreed with key stakeholders and generating data relevant to the improvement of laboratory management and operations.
The major achievements of this component included conduct of several studies. These included:
- An evaluation of the post- training readiness of medical laboratory technologists (MLT) trained within Caribbean Institutions
- A retrospective investigation into the occurrence of error impactors in medical laboratories in the Caribbean
- Public health training in the Caribbean: opportunities and challenges for educating public health practitioners in a resource limited environment such as the Caribbean (Doctoral dissertation)
- Workload Assessment of Laboratory Personnel in the Departments of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at a Caribbean Tertiary Level Hospital
